SLK Makassar Students Spread Joy at Panti Werdha Theodora

At SLK Makassar, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. Our students don’t just learn about compassion, respect, and community service from textbooks—they experience it firsthand. On February 19, 2025, our Grade 5 and 6 students embarked on a meaningful field trip to Panti Werdha Theodora, a nursing home in Makassar, to share joy and appreciation with the elderly residents.

A Journey of Learning and Kindness

The field trip was more than just a visit—it was an opportunity for our students to develop empathy and social responsibility. Accompanied by teachers and staff, the students arrived at the nursing home with warm smiles, ready to engage with the elderly through conversations, games, and music.

The day started with a warm welcome from the Panti Werdha representatives, followed by a heartfelt introduction from our school. The students then had the chance to conduct interviews with the residents, gaining insights into their lives, experiences, and wisdom. This interaction encouraged meaningful connections and taught our students the importance of listening and valuing the elderly in our society.

Bringing Smiles Through Activities

To brighten the residents' day, our students led fun games, laughter-filled moments, and a special sing-along session. The energy and enthusiasm of the students brought an uplifting atmosphere, and the residents joyfully participated. Before concluding the visit, our students distributed souvenirs as tokens of appreciation and captured beautiful memories in a group photo session.
